Günther Frena new CFO of Volkswagen Group Italia
He substitutes Philippe Bailly, who will take on the role of Chief Financial Officer of Volkswagen Group España Distribución
After holding various positions in companies of the Volkswagen Group both in Italy and abroad, Günther Frena has returned to Volkswagen Group Italia and will take on the role of CFO from August 1st. From the same date, Günther will also join the company's Executive Board.
Frena, born in 1969, Italian, began his professional career in the automotive sector in Volkswagen Group Italia as Product Manager for the SEAT brand in 1995. In the following 19 years he held positions of increasing responsibility, gaining transversal and organic experience within the Company, until he became Controlling Director in 2014. In March 2017 he left Italy for the role of CFO in SAIC Volkswagen, in Shanghai (China), a position he held for 3 years, and then took on the position of Head of Group Controlling After Sales for the Volkswagen Group in Kassel (Germany).
Bailly has a career spanning more than 30 years in the automotive industry. He joined the Volkswagen Group in 2004 and has extensive experience in strategic financial and operational positions both at the Group's headquarters in Germany and in several other countries. He has held the role of CFO of Volkswagen Group Italia since July 2021 and from August 1st 2025 he will move to Volkswagen Group España Distribución with the same position.
