Volkswagen Group Italia: people are at the center

Volkswagen Group Italia pays the utmost attention to the development of functional competences and effective career paths, to an efficient organization and to the well-being of its human resources. This approach, together with the quality of the policies and initiatives undertaken, has allowed the Verona-based company to obtain the Top Employer Certification also in 2024 – for the 13th consecutive year.
Growing together responsibly. These are the three words that, combined, perfectly sum up Volkswagen Group Italia's HR strategy. First and foremost, growth involves each employee through extensive training programs, a job rotation policy aimed at expanding everyone's skills, and structured and shared development plans. The purpose is specific: "to be a dynamic organization that enhances and develops the talents of each of us and puts us in a position to be able to express our full potential" said Massimo Tremante, Human Resources Director. "Only in this way can personal growth correspond to that of the entire company. We are all personally engaged and stimulated to get involved through targeted initiatives that promote innovation and allow us to play an active role in Volkswagen Group Italia. We are constantly encouraged to propose ideas and projects in every area of business and corporate life, also through structured programs. It is an opportunity to enhance the entrepreneurial spirit and creativity of each of us, with particular attention to an open mindset to change and the future. And finally, all this must take place responsibly, that is, in respect of people, rules, integrity and all the values in which we believe in Volkswagen Group Italia. Only in this way can individual and business growth also correspond to the growth and benefit of the entire society of which we are a part."
"With these assumptions, it becomes possible to react appropriately and innovatively to the continuous challenges we face and, above all, to be protagonists of the profound transformation that the entire automotive industry is experiencing" said Marcus Osegowitsch, CEO of Volkswagen Group Italia. "All this in a context where everyone has to commit thoroughly and where performance and targets are the top priority. We focus on people who are involved, who help us create a company that is increasingly flexible and in which communication is direct and untied from hierarchical constraints."
In light of this strategy, with the aim of enabling employees to work in the best conditions, Volkswagen Group Italia takes particular care of their well-being, meant in a broad sense. It goes from the attention to the working environment, both in terms of services and of corporate culture, to investments in various welfare initiatives, up to the many programs offered to balance the needs of work life and those of the private sphere.
One example is the VGI Welcare program, which will turn 7 in March. In addition to a welfare fund to support the care of children and elderly or dependent parents, it includes a health policy with broad coverage also for the family. In addition, employees have the opportunity to convert the productivity bonus into goods and services without any tax and social security burdens, also benefiting from an additional credit thanks to a substantial company contribution.
In addition to this extensive program, the Company offers many other benefits. To name just a few: the in-house restaurant is totally free, there are a coffee bar and a take-away meal service, preferential conditions for long-term car rental, a company carpooling community and bike sharing with electric bicycles.
In terms of work-life balance, a tool that Volkswagen Group Italia has been making available to employees for some time is remote working: it is possible to work from home up to 8 days a month, the number indicated as preferable in the survey, thus optimally combining professional and personal needs with great flexibility.
Other important work-life balance opportunities are flexible working hours, the so-called time bank, and 6-hour workday on Fridays. The first consists in the possibility of juggling the start and end times of work daily and according to one's needs, with an elastic lunch break that goes from a minimum of 30 to a maximum of 90 minutes. The time bank gives the possibility to amass every minute of work after the scheduled time and to take advantage of this 'credit' in case of need.
These, and many others, are the factors that have allowed Volkswagen Group Italia to be counted among the Top Employers 2024. This Certification is issued to virtuous companies that reach and meet the high standards required by the Top Employers Institute in the HR area, at the end of an evaluation process that includes an extensive analysis of all parameters and thematic areas related to working conditions.
