Audi together with Enel and Cortina for developing electric mobility
The development of electric mobility services and the creation of a widespread charging infrastructure. One month after the announcement, Enel and Audi Italia come back to Cortina to illustrate further details of the agreement which provides specific solutions for those who will buy the new Audi e-tron, the first 100% electric SUV, at the 4-ring Brand’s dealers network. Moreover, to make easier and without worries the lives of electric cars drivers, Enel and Cortina have signed an agreement to install public charging stations within the municipal area. This has made Cortina one of the first cities to join the infrastructural national Plan, presented by the Group at the racetrack of Vallelunga in November.
"We are happy to be in Cortina again to continue to illustrate our commitment for the development of electric mobility in Italy” – states Francesco Venturini, Responsible of Enel X. “The agreement with Audi Italia will allow those who will buy an electric car to subscribe and organize all the operations needed for the installation of a private charging infrastructure dealing with a single representative. Moreover, it will be possible to get a fill of energy at one of the public charging stations, which will be installed in Cortina thanks to the agreement with the city of Ampezzo. Lastly, our infrastructural plan includes the strengthening of the extra-urban electric charging network, which will make increasingly easier for electric cars to reach Cortina from the major Italian cities. Together with the Cortina Foundation 2021 we will launch a series of concrete initiatives intended to make easier driving electric vehicles and to go on developing the charging infrastructure in view of the Alpine World Ski Championship 2021.”
“The road to zero emission mobility through the electric technology is irreversible and Audi will be the protagonist thanks to an unprecedented investment, which takes into account a plan of electrification of 20 models over the next 7 years” – states Fabrizio Longo, Brand Manager of Audi Italia. “In the next few months we will launch Audi e-tron, the four-ring Brand’s first fully electric car, which will redefine the concept of all-wheel drive premium SUV. To make the new technology actually usable by the Client, we deemed it crucial to develop an infrastructure and a dedicated plan of services. The agreement with Enel will make possible to have access to the new electric technology without worrying about the access to the charging network. This agreement has not come into being in Cortina by chance, where Audi is partner of the Cortina Foundation 2021 to actively contribute with Enel to the plan for the electrification of the urban mobility in view of the Alpine World Ski Championship.”
The agreement with Enel and Audi Italia will allow to offer a comprehensive package of services and a private charging infrastructure available across the Brand’s dealers network for private customers, small companies or professionals who will buy the new Audi e-tron from the next autumn. In particular, services to verify the conditions for installing a private wallbox of charge will be offered, together with the support for the request of power increase and the supply and the installation of a newly conceived wallbox. Moreover, each Audi e-tron owner will have the possibility to use the Enel public infrastructure through a dedicated profile on the “App e-go ricarica”: an integrated and electric turnkey solution.
Thanks to the agreement between Enel and the City of Cortina it will be possible to use also quick and fast charging stations, which are going to be installed in the Ampezzan area. The broadening of the charging infrastructure within the most important Italian ski area increases the chances to use e-cars outside the urban area and allows the increase of the offer of tourist services also for those who drive electric cars.
“We are very happy and proud of being one of the first Italian cities to have subscribed to the nation Plan launched by Enel for the creation of a widespread charging infrastructure for electric vehicles – states Gianpietro Ghedina, Mayor of Cortina D’Ampezzo. “For Cortina this is a chance which proves once again our commitment for the protection of nature and in particular of the mountain environment, to make our city more and more sustainable. We are sure that this agreement will last also in the next few years with the aim to achieve an almost totally sustainable mobility in view of Alpine World Ski Championship 2021.”
Within the Enel Group Enel X has come into being, a company dedicated to the development of electric mobility and digital services for Costumers, cities, companies and Public administration. Enel has launched a national plan for the installation of charging infrastructures to support the spread of zero emission mobility: about 7,000 charging stations within 2020 to step up to 14,000 within 2022. The program concerns a full coverage in all the Italian Regions and consists of the installation of more than 2,500 charging stations already in 2018 all over the country.
The Plan includes also the project EVA+ (Electric Vehicles Arteries), co-financed by the European Commission, in which Audi and other car makers participate. It consists of the installation of 180 fast charging stations by October 2018 along the extra-urban Italian routes. The first 43 Fast stations installed allow to drive with an electric car on the routes Rome-Milan, Milan-Turin, Milan-Genoa, and the axis Rome-Florence Bologna Modena Ferrara.
