Electrify Verona: living the city emission-free
Three strategic partners to support the development of electric mobility: the city of Verona, AGSM and Volkswagen Group Italia join forces in the project Electrify Verona.
Tomorrow’s mobility will be electric, however buying a battery-powered car is not enough to move emission-free: an adequate infrastructure and organization are also needed. At the present moment, exactly the lack of recharging points and the costs involved in the use of electric cars are the main limitations for the spread of e-mobility in our country.
Verona wants to give a strong signal in this direction, with concrete solutions and a tangible contribution. The City Council joins forces with AGSM and Volkswagen Group Italia, the Italian subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, in order to give the citizens the possibility to become familiar with the new mobility’s age.
“There is a need for concrete initiatives to support the development of electric mobility in Italy” says Massimo Nordio, CEO of Volkswagen Group Italia. “Therefore, as one of the main car companies, we have to take action. For this reason, we are proud to make a significant contribution with Electrify Verona, a project dedicated to our city and our fellow-citizens which has bringing people closer to a new idea of mobility as its objective, regardless of whether they buy a car of one of our Brands. It is a much broader commitment, in line with the will of taking Verona into the future”.
“Volkswagen wants to become leader in the field of zero emission mobility. We really want to bring people closer to electric cars with concrete actions”, Andrea Alessi, Brand Manager of Volkswagen Brand, pointed out. “Therefore we came up with very advantageous solutions for our customers, as Progetto Valore Volkswagen Elettrico, i.e. an offer with a discount rate of the 22% - the VAT- to purchase an e-up! and an e-Golf. A further step in this direction is Electrify Verona: a true mobility system dedicated to electric-car owners that grants free access to ZTL, free parking, fast recharging stations and the free installation of a Wall Box for the home recharge for Verona residents and for buyers of a purely electric car – non only Volkswagen – from September 2018 to December 2019”.
At a later stage, the partnership will develop a net of smart Wi-Fi stations, video surveillance and fast recharging stations for all the electric vehicles. The plan envisages the creation of 100 recharging stations which will make Verona the city with the biggest number of fast recharging stations per capita, in comparison with the biggest Italian cities.
