An initiative dedicated to the collection of waste dispersed in the environment, in 'critical' areas in the cities of the respective company headquarters identified together with the Plastic Free Odv Onlus association. The Clean-up days were held on 13 May, 9 June and 23 September, a project coordinated by Volkswagen Group Italia, with the involvement of Porsche Italia, MAN Truck & Bus Italia and Volkswagen Financial Services Italia.
235 employees carried out clean-up operations, cleaning up various areas in Verona, Padua and Milan, covering a total area of about 305,200 m2 and collecting 1,055 kg of material. A concrete act that confirms the 360-degree commitment of the Volkswagen Group companies to environmental protection and which is part of the numerous activities promoted on this topic.
The initiative was organized in collaboration with Plastic Free Odv Onlus, voluntary association born in 2019 to fight plastic pollution. Thanks to this, the participants had the opportunity to deepen their awareness of the environmental issue and acquired significant information and data on the subject.
Environmental protection is a priority for the Volkswagen Group, which, in line with its Environmental policy, promotes a holistic approach to sustainability, ranging from the constant improvement of Production and business processes to raising awareness among employees, who are called upon to make their own contribution both in the workplace and in the private sphere.
An example of this is #Project1Hour, an initiative that has been taking place for three years on the occasion of International Earth Day: it involves all 675,000 Group's employees worldwide and the sales network and consists of dedicating an hour of the working day to developing their respective knowledge on climate protection and proposing concrete ideas in this area.
