Volkswagen Group and Google work together on quantum computers
At the technology conference "Web Summit 2017" (Lisbon), the Volkswagen Group and Google today announced comprehensive research cooperation in the field of quantum computing. The two companies will explore the utilization of quantum computers together, with aims to build up specialist knowledge and to carry out practically oriented research. As part of this collaboration, a team of specialists from Volkswagen and Google will work together using a Google quantum computer. Quantum computers can solve certain highly complex tasks considerably faster than conventional supercomputers. In some cases, a solution will only be possible with quantum computers.
Volkswagen Group Italia launches: VGI Welcare
Volkswagen Group Italia, subsidiary of the German car maker introduces a broad welfare program, named VGI Welcare, aiming to support the employees in balancing their professional and family needs. For the first time they are given the opportunity – on a voluntary basis – to totally or partly transform the productivity bonus in a wide range of goods or services without any fiscal charge. Also their spouse, children, parents, parents-in-law, sons- and daughters-in-law, brothers and sisters can benefit from it, even if they are not dependent or cohabitant. VGI Welcare has three fields of application: education and assistance, health and social services, culture and entertainment.The extension of the healthcare policy to the household is a further innovation introduced in 2017.

How do people think? On what basis do they take decisions? And how can artificial intelligence help them in the future? These questions are being pursued by an international expert team at the Volkswagen Information Technology Center Munich (Data Lab). The team includes IT experts, robotics specialists, data scientists, programmers, physicists and mathematicians, all working hand in hand.
